After being delicately handpicked, the Oshuku Ume plums undergo maturation in Ono Shuzo Sake Brewery using an authentic sake-making method that requires craftsmanship, time, and skill. The umeshu is carefully prepared in several steps, finished with a long aging process. The result is a complex, intricate, yet intense umeshu. Plum Umeshu’s jammy plum notes are interlaced with marmalade and a tang of residual sweetness. Beautifully complemented by its maturation with hints of honeyed green apple and a lightly wooded finish. Plum Umeshu is great drunk on ice or enjoyed in cocktails.
Each bottle wrapped in special hand-made paper using the traditional Japanese tetsuki-washi technique which was registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2014.The picture on the label represents the love (and also the plums!) that went into making this light, tangy umeshu. We hope you enjoy the intricacies of the flavour inside the bottle as well as that of the design on the outside.
